Family Legacy

We help you preserve your family’s memories for future generations.  Your family’s legacy will be treasured for generations to come.

Do you remember the stories your great grandmother told you when you were a child?–stories about her life when she was young?  Things she did?  Did she describe a life very different from yours?  Were some of her stories funny?  Did she give you family history and ancestry? And now for the big question!  Did you capture those stories?–on video?–on audio?–or at a minimum, in writing?  Or, are those things gone for good now?

If you still have photos or old movies, and stories that go along with them we can put it all together for you in a “Family Legacy Movie.”  We can also take video of your Grandma telling her stories.  (Maybe she remembers some of Great Grandma’s stories too.)  We’ll put it all together in a DVD movie that the whole family can watch together.  And we’ll make enough copies for all the family members that want one and even make one to go in your safe-deposit box for future generations.

What is a Family Legacy Video?

There are many ways of creating a family legacy video.  It may be a simple montage of family photos set to music, perhaps voice descriptions of the people in the photos, a combination of photos or old movies with voice-over, or freshly-videotaped sessions combined with any of the above.  Or it could be a videotaped interview of a person or a couple talking about their life, their family history, their stories, and/or their memories of certain elements of their life.

The interview may be conducted by a family member who is also videotaped, or it may be conducted by an unseen interviewer. The setting for the videotaping should be a comfortable place where the lighting is good. It may take place in the subject’s home, in a hotel room, outside on a porch, under a tree, or in any other comfortable place.

When the videotaping is complete, the interview is later made into a movie which may contain music, titles, and photos if desired. There could be lots of editing required, or very little.

Each video is customized to the subjects being interviewed and the objectives of the interview. When all the editing is finished it is burned to a DVD, with copies made, if desired, for various family members. Sometimes the copies are ordered for Christmas or birthday gifts, or placed in the family safe-deposit box to preserve for future generations.
